Dome of the Rock Crescent
قبة الصخرة في هلال
The Dome of the Rock is the mosque built above the sacred Sakharat al-Maraj from which the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, ascended to heaven on his Night Journey. In this one-of-a-kind masterpiece, the mosque is grounded in the crescent of Islam, symbolic of the dawning of the faith in the Holy City of Jerusalem and the protection of the Holy Mosque on the Temple Mount, at the junction between the three Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
The Dome of the Rock features a massive gold dome atop an octagonal building, symbolizing the connection between Heaven and Earth. This representation is built with Jerusalem Stone, Lapis stone and 18-karat Gold.
Embracing the mosque, the crescent moon, shaped from Jerusalem Stone, is filled with rare fluorescent diamonds. By light of day, the sculpture bears the colors of Jerusalem, in a palate of Earth tones created by Jerusalem Stone, 18-karat Gold, and white and gold Diamonds. In the dark, when exposed to ultraviolet light, they shine blue and gold, producing five stars that represent the five pillars of Islam: the declaration of faith (Shahada), prayer (Salah), alms-giving (Zakat), fasting (Sawm) and pilgrimage to Mecca (Hajj).
Fluorescence in diamonds is purely natural, though highly rare, contributing to the exceptional individuality of this exquisite work of faith, art and jeweled ornamentation.
The Dome of the Rock in the Crescent is a most unique work of Islamic Art, leveraging the spiritual and historical value of Jerusalem Stone and the rare qualities of color and fluorescence in already precious Diamonds. This one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted AlSakhra Collector’s item is a Masterpiece that will be publicly displayed in prestigious world capitals, exhibitions and auction houses worldwide.
