The AlSakhra Jewelry Collection is a line of fine jewelry and intricate artwork, inspired by Sakharat al-Maraj, the “Rock of Ascension” and Jerusalem’s Haram al-Sharif “The Noble Sanctuary”.
Sakharat al-Maraj, also known as AlSakhra, is the sacred rock from which the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, ascended to heaven on his Night Journey. The site holds importance to all three monotheistic religions.
Above the Ancient Rock, the iconic Dome of the Rock dominates the Jerusalem skyline with its gold dome atop an octagonal building of Jerusalem Stone, symbolizing the connection between Heaven and Earth.
The AlSakhra Collection intertwines deep faith, homage to culture, original art and exquisite design.

The Night Journey of Mohammad, peace be upon him, connected the Holy Cities of Islam and revealed the wondrous guidance of Allah to His people.
The AlSakhra Collection eternally links the faith and beauty of Islam with Mohammad’s, PBUH, leap from the “Rock of Ascension” in Jerusalem.
Each creation is handcrafted, with ancient Jerusalem Stone and precious diamonds set in gold – reminiscent of the values, reverence and love at the heart of Islam. Many of the items include Holy Scripts carefully etched in Calligraphy…an historic tradition of expressing Islamic faith through art.

Jerusalem Stone is ancient and enduring although, relative to other forms of rock, volatile and vulnerable. The material has been used for construction throughout history, and yet, creating precise artwork from this ancient stone requires the hands of an artist and the soul of a believer.
It took several years of trials and tribulations to develop an innovative method, exclusive to IDC, to enable the embedding of precious gold and the setting of diamonds and gemstones in these potentially feeble natural rocks.
Devotion and careful handling prevailed, clearing the way for artistic expression of faith, reverence and love.
Collection Designer
Designed by Avi Tavisal
Avi Tavisal was born in 1952 in Jerusalem, the seventh generation of his family in the Holy City, and the second generation of technically-gifted jewelry designers.
One of the founders of the Israel Diamond Exchange, Avi Tavisal is a pioneer in the local diamond jewelry industry and the founder of IDC.
Asked about the origins of the AlSakhra Collection, Avi Tavisal explained, “My name, ‘Avi’ is short for Avraham (Abraham), the father of the monotheistic faiths for whom the Abraham Accords were named. With the signing of the Accords, I saw this project as my calling in life – a way to employ my talents and tools toward celebrating normalization among cousins, sharing similarities in our values and faiths.
“I began thinking about the deep significance of Jerusalem Stone and envisaged incorporating it as the ‘foundation’ of new, spiritually-inspired designs for jewelry and artwork. Diamonds, gold and gemstones are universally appreciated for their beauty and value – and evermore so when used in creations honoring faith, love and kinship,” he expressed.
